Wimbachklamm (Wimbach Ravine)
A ravine from a fairytale
The Wimbachklamm lies at the entrance to the Wimbach valley, in the Berchtesgaden National Park, at the feet of the Wetzmann and the Hochkalter.
The Ramsau lumberjacks constructed the wooden walkway for the salt-mine. The walkway was set up in 1843 and immediately afterwards opened for tourism in 1847. Meanwhile, about 100000 visitors a year come to the ravine.
The Wimbachklamm has a totally special wild but romantic peculiarity. You will get an information sheet about the ravine, its history and geologic composition on request at the ticket office. The entrance to the natural monument is about 1 – 1.50 Euro.
The ravine can be visited from early May to All Saint’s Day.
