Royal Castle of Berchtesgaden
The complex of the Royal Castle consists of:
- the former monastery
- the dwellings of the canons
- the residence of the sovereign provosts
The Royal Castle was a monastery of the Augustine canons and the residence of the sovereign provosts from 1002-1803. It is used by the Bavarian royal family as a summer residence since 1810. Crown-prince Rupprecht furnished it with precious art collections.
The deer collection of Duke Albrecht von Bayern, on 340 m² in the depot, was made available to the public in 2005.
