Nostalgia paired with solid technology
The Predigtstuhlbahn is the oldest originally kept large-cabin train in Germany (01/07/1928) – a real nostalgia train!
Just like in the old days, the machinist ensures that the guests safely overcome the 1,150m altitude difference of the 1,614m high Predigtstuhl in 8.5 minutes. The carefully maintained and looked after machines show the high quality that they were already manufactured with in those days.

Winter hiking
The Predigtstuhlbahn travels in winter as well as in summer, every half an hour from 9am, but this time into a magnificent winter landscape. Borrow ski poles for free from the mountain station and hike through well cleared and well prepared winter paths up to the summit.

The ideal hiking plateau
A nice excursion, even with children. A little hiking or a right mountain tour – The Predigtstuhl offers this (the family-friendly Predigtstuhlbahn is located directly at the outskirts of Bad Reichenhall).
You will enjoy a gorgeous view even during the ascent. Whether in the valley, from Salzburg to the Chiemsee, or on the summit world of the Alps, e.g. the Dachstein, Wilden Kaiser, the Steinerne Meer, the Hochkönig, Watzmann or the Hochkalter – a unique panorama. In the area of the mountain station, Predigtstuhl summit up to the Hochschlegel – well-kept walking and hiking trails await you – even in winter.

Recuperation in the natural preservation area
Additional summits or descents of any difficulty level in the valleys - Bad Reichenhall, Bayrisch Gmain, Winkl, Hallthurm, Baumgarten, Ramsau and Bischofswiesen – invite you for mountain tours - Observe the Alpine flora and fauna that is intact here.

Stop at the mountain pasture
The homely Schlegelmulde, an alpine cabin with particular flair, is about 15 minutes from the mountain station away. Enjoy the peace and hospitality – whether in front of the cabin in the beer garden, or in the traditional pub with a good snack.
