Germany’s only high-mountainous national park was founded in 1978 and encompasses an area of about 219sq. km. Here one finds a grandiose high mountainous landscape with extensive forests, clear mountain lakes and steep towering cliffs. A network of 230km of hiking trails and climbing paths invite you to discover the wild nature on foot. You can get daily information about the national park and current events programme from 9am to 5pm at the Nationalpark-Haus in Berchtesgaden or in one of the other five information centres.
