Kärlinghaus am Funtensee
The Kärlinghaus is located on the Funtensee, in a wonderful dip of the Steinernen Lake in the national park of Berchtesgaden. The lake is located at an elevation of 1601m. With a walking time of about 3.30 hours it is easily reachable for families.
The lake has a depth of about 5 meters and contains first-class potable water. The lake can achieve swimming temperatures in summer (late July, early August). The Kärlinghaus has a yearly accommodation stay of 9000. Here you can experience a night in the middle of the mountains.
The Funtensee is famous for its cold records. Temperatures of -45.9°C have been measured; the lowest temperature that was ever measured in Germany.
Temperatures up to -10°C can also be achieved even in summer.
